First, and most importantly: I would like to say thank you to everyone involved with the amazing semester that I had J Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
I’m still having some issues adjusting to life back in the US, but in general I’m very happy to be home. Speaking of issues, I actually forgot my phone number when giving it to a friend - how weird is that? Also, I thought a quarter was worth 50¢ and made a fool of myself trying to pay at QuikTrip. Whoops.
Besides those minor adjustments, there are still some things that took a while to get used to. For example, the fact that I can’t just go to another country for the weekend - that ones’s tough. I’m so spoiled. Also, I know that I’ll never have an opportunity like that again in my life so it’s taking some time to adjust to the fact that it’s really over. I guess I can appreciate it even more now that I’m home but it’s still frustrating.
Overall, the comfort of being back is wonderful. Even little things like carpet and pizza are so nice. My family and friends have been wonderful about helping me ease back into everything and everyone seems genuinely interested in listening to my stories and looking at my pictures (all 3 million of them!)
I guess I’ll leave with this quote from, oh, every single person I said goodbye to: “No goodbyes, only hasta luegos” – to Spain and my newfound “family” abroad.
