Another Friday the 13th! I can’t believe there were two in a row and nothing horrible happened… Ok, so maybe something not so hot did happen – I got sunburned. But if that’s the worst thing in my life, I can definitely deal with that J We got up and took the 10 (city bus that goes by our place – not always the most pleasant trip) to the bus station and caught a bus to Almuñecar for 7€. I was in my new bubble gum pink dress and flip flops and all the Spaniards were in winter coats and scarves – yep, we stuck out. I wasn’t too worried though, I was just excited to go to the beach! It took just over an hour to get there and it was a cute little town. There weren’t many people though, it was kind of odd. Anyway, we headed to the beach and found a sandy spot amidst the rocks to lie for a while. It was really sunny but not super hot (by Iowa summer standards, of course) since the wind was coming off the ocean. The water was a really pretty color and there was a castle and some really pretty big black rocks that separated the fishing area from the beach. We found some really cute cafes along the coast too. When I woke up from a nap I was complaining that I didn’t think I was getting much color - WRONG. I took off my sunglasses and saw the nice line down my legs and arms that drew a perfect separation from pasty white and pink since I hadn’t really turned over or moved a lot. I kind of matched my dress on the way home! We decided that we had enough sun and got back on the bus for Granada. After we got off the 10, Taylor decided to stop at the pharmacy to grab some aloe. She was trying to explain what she wanted and when they weren’t really understanding, she pointed at her legs/feet which were absolutely scorched (like the rest of her body..) and the lady laughed and said, “ohh, after-sun” in a thick accent. It reminded me of the time I was in Mexico at Burger King and explained in Spanish that I wanted no tomatoes, no pickles, no mustard, no onions, etc. then the guy yelled in the microphone, “hamburgesa, plain”. Right. Had some dinner, hung out, then crashed!
